More hamburgers
Ana Maria Henriques:
The hamburger is in vogue in almost always small, comfortable and well-decorated places. In a few months, in Porto, opened three new houses specialized in this sandwich and Portuguese products.
The most recent is the Real Hamburgueria, very close to Cedofeita Street, with stone walls, tables and white benches. The bet of the menu is really the hamburgers – 10 -, which is why starters and even desserts are outnumbered. We chose to start with a small plate (€ 2) of cheese, toasts and sweet pickles, very tasty and not sour, accompanied by homemade lemonade (€ 1) with mint.
The choice was not easy. Troika, Portas Submarine, Chaparro or Careto are names of some of the hamburgers, always with beef and sunflower seed bread and homemade unpeeled chips.
We opted for the last (€ 7), with watercress, tomato, transmontano goat cheese, portobello mushrooms and onion. Tall and perfectly layered, it has a great combination of ingredients and a delicious sauce. The potatoes passed with distinction, as did the second burger, the vegetarian (€ 6), with lettuce, tomato, Alavão cheese, mushrooms and onions.
Then, the rest in the form of candy. Here desserts are served in shot glasses (€ 1 / each) and vary daily. They got a pineapple mousse with orange and mint and a chocolate chip cookie. Both are great and in the right amount – for feelings of guilt enough for hamburgers.
