Real Hamburgueria Portuguesa
A burguer with guts?
There were no hamburgers in Porto yet and Sónia and Marco were doing works in Torrinha. They are boyfriends and had safe jobs. But they left everything (even the city where they lived) to have a project of their own.
The concept of Real Hamburgueria Portuguesa, which opened last month, is to create hamburgers inspired by Portuguese regions. There is Chaparro (from Alentejo), Careto (with a transmontano touch) and, of course, Tripeiro. Read well: it is really a hamburger with guts, sausage, chorizo and beans (8 €). We have proven and guaranteed that it is not the bmba it seems.
There is a slate board that explains each of the inventions. There is also a vegetarian and, among the typical Portuguese, some names act as satires of the country. Examples: Troika, the cheapest (4,50 €) and Portas Submarino, a submerged cream burger (7 €). All are served with rosemary-seasoned shelled chips and the bread is made especially for them with poppy seeds. In the week there is a daily menu – until 18.00 – which includes hamburger, drink, dessert shot and coffee (5.50 €).
